Personal routers are supported. It is VERY important, whether you use wired or wireless routers, that you follow your manufacturers instructions on how to secure the device. Always change the default password. We also recommend that if you use a wireless router, enable MAC Address filtering to disable other folks in your area from connecting to your wireless connection and using your Internet. While we support routers connecting to our network, it is not our responsibility to configure them, secure them or diagnose/troubleshoot them. If your router stops working, we'll make sure your PC can plug directly into the outlet and work. Once you plug a router or related item into your outlet, you are creating your own network, and we are not responsible for helping you maintain your own network. The majority of calls we receive from people with routers who are having issues are asked to do the following things. It's a great idea to try these things before you call us, it will help everyone.

| UVa Targeted by RIAA |
|
As reported by the Daily Progress (full article here ), seven users on the UVa network have been targeted by the RIAA for illegal music download files. The University of Virginia tracks which user uses each IP address at any given time (just like we do). As a result, they are able to forward these warnings on to the actual user(s) that downloaded the files. If the users do not "settle", they may find themselves the targetof a lawsuit. We ask that if you have not actually "bought" a song or movie, that you not download it so we don't have to forward these same letters on to you.
