Got wireless?

If you have a personal router and are connecting it to our network, wait! Please visit the appropriate section for a "how-to" first! Incorrectly configured or connected routers are one of the top reasons your connection gets suspended.

Going somewhere?

These directions have been put in place to help those that purchase a new macintosh computer with Mac OS X 10.5 pre-installed configure ethernet access.

Connect Via Ethernet CABLE

Step 1: Open System Preferences, either from the Dock or the Apple menu.

ethernet-1

Step 2: When the System Preferences window appears, click on the Network icon.

ethernet-2Result: The Network configuration window appears. From this window, you configure TCP/IP, AppleTalk, PPP (dialup) and even PPPoE (DSL with an outside provider).

Step 3: From the Location drop down menu (at the top of the window), click and create a new location (give it a name that makes sense to you). OS X will decide how you are trying to connect, but in this case we want to tell it how to connect, so from the left-hand pane, choose Ethernet.

 ethernet-3
Step 4: Click on the Apply button in the lower right corner.
To close the window, click on the red button.
